F*CKING ANGRY

Excuse the swearing right in the title. I should bring you all up to speed.

So today I received a critique on 'Someday I'd Like to Be A Pirate', it was a critique made with an elitist tone, by this artist . At first I played it off in the usual way, smiling and writing my usual responses that I give when someone posts something unfavourable. He showed me a deviation that was "better" than mine and I "congratulated" him.

Then he sends me this note:

I must reiterate here and now, I apologize for the use of the word "wank" in the comment "sparing" between you and *NotenSMSK. BUT, I do not refrain from my use of the word "kid" and thus, the tone with which I critiqued your work "someday I want to be a pirate".

Argue as much as you like, and cry just as much over my "cold fastidious approach", BUT that was low - coming from a person who wrote "Waking Nightmare", "An Oath to my Father", "Can I Cut Yet", among a noted few, that was both careless, and shallow.

It wasn't even focused enough to emphasize the point that most of your other works make - I'm sorry, but if you've been here on dA, either you shouldn't have written that poem in the first place, or if you did, stop writing superior works then.

THIS community has too many nauseatingly poor writers already... don't join the posse; I may not always agree with you, but I admit you've got a tried and tested strategy to make your point.

Use it anyway you want, that's not my headache: we all have our own agenda and idea of how we work. You know yours and I know mine.

But this is from a person who... for the sake of it... looks at your works and finds SOMETHING worth reading. Don't post shallow stuff like "someday I want to be a pirate" unless you explicitly state it so (that its for parody's sake, and it should be taken as a humorous lark, and fans deserve a break from the usual 'deep' interaction) because its an insult to your fans (who, I'm sorry to say, are idiots and morons) and its an insult to people who prefer being neutral, and silently nodding your approach.

I hope I've made my point clear. Yes, if you decide on debating over the matter, then let me emphasize I couldn't give a rat's hell-hole what your response is.

The bolded part is obviously what got me fired up. Anyone may insult me as much as you like. PLEASE go ahead, take as many pot shots at me and my art. Call me stupid, call me a poor writer, call me a pirate wannabe, call me whatever you want. I don't give a damn, BUT don't ever insult my fans =__=

Here was the response that I wrote to him after which I blocked him:

"Let me try and explain it to you in a way that you might understand.

No. I will not make 'high-quality' works all the time. Nobody wants to watch the same type of program all the time every day.

I am a varied poet, addressing all styles and ALL different types of genres.

If I wish to post something child-like, then I most certainly will and if it receives a good response (and it makes someone happy) then that's all that matters to me.

I am not an elitist and I see no purpose in shying away from making numerous products to suit the consumer taste in the market.

You may insult me all you like, I don't care much for my own dignity, BUT NEVER call my fans 'idiots and morons'. You are someone who simply enjoys looking down on others. I've been down that path a long time ago and I realised, it's the worst way to be.

Even if someone is not as strong as you in a particular subject, even if someone is not as good as you, I see no reason to look down upon them.

We are only writers and we are only popular because of those who bear us up upon their shoulders. They carry us, painfully, to the top on the stage, NOT so that we may look down upon them or pass judgement, but so that we can perform and give them a good show.

If being a fool is what entertains my audience, then a fool I am. I shall be blocking you now. I wish to have nothing to do with someone who openly judges others as 'idiots and morons'.

I hope to emphasize the following point:

If entertaining you all makes me a fool, THEN LET THIS PIRATE BE A FOOL!

I will NEVER stop writing for my fans, REGARDLESS of who my fans may be, for it is only because of them that I even have a reason to write and work hard at all.

I therefore hope that ANY of you amongst my watchers, who know of this deviant , understands that he is an elitist that only cares for his "writing" and simply wants to use it to show off how "clever" and "smart" that he is. Individuals who do not understand how to love the public and how to reciprocate the affection that they are given, do not deserve to the be in the world of Arts and Entertainment.

You want to look down on someone? Join politics. I'm here to make people, smile, shiver, laugh and cry, based on the many masks I wear whilst performing on the stage of my Deviant Art.

Again, I apologise for the swearing in the title, but I can NEVER stand an artist that looks down upon the fans.

You, my readers, are the ones who give me a reason to live and something to hold on to when the pressure of performing gets to be too hard. A leader is only one if he has someone to lead...a writer is only one, if he has someone to read.
