The FarseerThe Farseer:

Born from the union of an Angel and a Witch
The farseer is a creature of terrible might.
Granted the wisdom of his blessed father;
He bears the gift of a clairvoyant's sight...

His eyes can pierce the veil of uncertainty
And look beyond into the crystal of fate...
The myriad of futures reflected in its surface;
Is his to acknowledge and collate.

He scribes them down in an enchanted book
It is titled 'The Tome of Dying Shades'.
For as the future becomes the present;
The scribbled pages fade...

It is for this reason that he may never lie
Else the future would shatter; to be born anew.
That much we've learned from his

Wings of DespairWings of Despair:

A momentary glance toward the birds in the sky;
Makes me feel like I am soaring; with a hope to fly.
But the chilling winds that wrap me, reflect the cold of this day
And the icy frost that batters me, chips me away...

It drains the very breath from me, as though the ice is locked within
I feel my hope is fading again; like a jar of captured wind...
Where once my will was strong and boundless; now it sits on broken wastes
I must admit this crushing despair, it feels as bad as it tastes....

From the moment that I acquired them, these were ugly tattered wings
They were made from my despair, and bound in bitter string

The Feelings That LingerThe Feelings That Linger:

The sound of your voice still lingers here
Even though I know you're gone...
And my nights have turned to sleepless days;
They grow worse with every dawn...

You've probably heard this story though
At least a thousand times or more.
But the thing I remember best about her
Is the sound of that closing door...

It was like the end to everything;
A cloud inside my head.
When I came awake on that final night;
I reached for her in bed-

But an empty space was all I got;
There was no one to wipe these tears.
I could scream and cry for many hours;
But it wouldn't chase my fears.

I tried so hard to tell myself

Our Word is SacredOur Word is Sacred:

We have struggled against the chains of fate
We've lived our lives on the edge of hate.
Oppressed by the taunting of the foolish and blind;
It is time we stood and responded in kind.

No more can we sit here, content with our place;
Else by apathy alone we shall be erased!
Our work is like a candle, a small one at best;
It is quickly snuffed by a single breath...

For too long have we accepted, the concept of equality;
Whilst simply accepting the crumbs of poverty.
Our people go unheeded, as madmen and sloths;
The "cultured" eat like kings, while we are fed with broth...

To create these verses, it takes a lot of

Heavy StressI seem to be awake at night
For my mind is rushing on
The stress will always haunt me
Into the hours of the morn

I've never been a nervous man
But some nights I need to think
I find myself so filled with stress
I seek the bathroom sink

Vomiting, vomiting
Out it goes
Everything emerges
And chokes the nose

To those who are waiting in the silent shadows;
To the sisters I've been trying so hard to find.
It is time we came together as one
For here we shall leave the past behind...

In this secret garden, my voice is clear
Soft and gentle like the flowing wind.
Yet here I am; a dirty spirit
A simple soul that sinned...

Gathered in silence, bearing cowls of night
You've come like moths, to a burning light.
These lovely witchlings, so tender and lush
Soon I will give you, a blessed blush...

And bear the stigma of our ancient creed...

Blood CrusadeBlood Crusade:

They rode upon the backs of thundering horses
for faith had unleashed a terrible beast
These men would offer their souls in service
to the dark unholy priests...

"To what end do we serve our Lord and Master
is justice not the ultimate form of faith?
Should we not stand and fight in his name
to cleanse the Earth of this heathen waste!"

It was these orators, chaplains of faith;
men of the cloth who bore a fire
They lit their brothers with impassioned speeches
fueled by their own desire...

They taught their followers that blood was faith
and devotion was found at the edge of a blade

A World of BloodA World of Blood:

The spirits whisper on a chilling wind
As the blood continues to flow.
I can hear the demons screaming within
As the darkness continues to grow...

Humankind will always be foolish;
Rash decisions are an instinctive need.
But how could they have forgotten our ways;
Tradition is lost to greed...

The zealous will kill the innocent again
As the greedy play out a game of chess.
A book of gods becomes a creed;
It is a ragged shell at best...

My sisters die in the tens of hundreds
And innocent girls are slaughtered like swine.
I'm afraid that in this dying world;
The God of Blood shall dine...

The Witch HunterThe Witch Hunter:

The morning is cold with a solemn chill
As the black wagon rolls into town.
The people are silent, like a funeral wake;
Their eyes never leave the ground...

The choked rasp of hindered breathing
Can be heard as he emerges from within.
The priest bearing the book of executions;
It is bound with the blackest strings...

Let evil be destroyed on this lovely day
The priest growls with a twisted grin.
He signals to his companion, who steps out lightly
This man shall purge this town of sin!

The priest then opens the book and waits;
His companion simply gazes into the crowd.
He looks as though he is listening;

They are tempered in the flames of eternal war
Ever will they stand against the tides of evil
For the dark shall claim no more

In the burning mountains of the Dragonkin
It is Man who swore a sacred oath
For in exchange for the Dragon's blood
Man must now protect them both

I speak of the legends; these Gods of battle
Warriors clad in suits of steel
They come as champions of a greiving world
And all shall learn to kneel

But not in supplication, nor out of dominance
We kneel in reverence of the bringers of light
These warriors imbued with the Eternal Flame

I stand upon the highest mountain
And call to the clouded sky.
I can hear the murmurs of heaven
As the light begins to die.

The world we used to believe in;
Once filled with the flowers to bloom.
Is now caged by its own animosity;
Like a twisted asylum room...

How long do we have to stand here
Pleading to the ignorant skies?
We can scream with all of our voices
But the heavens turn their eyes...

Is simply not going to do.

I tracked her down to a squalid cave
Where the entrance smelled of rotting flesh.
Putrid and vile, bloated with maggots;
It stung the nose with every breath.

I avoided choking and steeled my will
For the mouth was a facade to deter the weak.
But the inside was opulent, rich and vibrant;
It matched the prey which I had to seek...

She sat in the center, confident and calm
Displayed on a throne of solid gold.
She wore a dress of beautiful silk
Red in colour, and very bold...

Her scent reminded me of gentle flowers

Cold and arrogant slithering beast, your tongue is forked with lies

No matter how much you speak of warmth; affection, care or love

When I was young I was taught that pain begets pain,
Anger and animosity, malice and cruelty;
So deeply inflicted, so lovingly gifted.
I tasted of its rotten core and dared to call it sweet.

But what do I have to show for it?

The Pirate SolsticeThe Pirate Solstice:

There is tale around the Galbin Coast,
Of a black ship that appeared on the Winter Solstice.
It arrived at a town near Bismarch,
Struck heavily by famine and crop plagues.

The ship drifted silently upon the ocean currents,
Not a creak nor groan could be heard from its frame.
It docked at the port like an ominous reaper's vessel;
A metallic boarding ramp - much like a daemon's tongue -
Slithered slowly from its deck to meet with wooden jetty.

The crew descended, wearing black cloaks and black hats,

The Lie of Vengeance

The Lie of Vengeance:

It begins first as a smouldering fire;
A heat that swelters and burns inside your own heart.
It then roars to life as a flame of destruction;
Seeking, hungrily, to consume all who are bound by it...

This is the gift of vengeance
A kiss so sweet that it could only be an evil temptation.
Yet all will seek it in darkness;
For there is none who can resist its sweet allure...

It is like a friend in your time of need;
Comforting and seemingly understanding of your pain.
It tells you that you need to stand up for yourself;
It tells you that others must fall for you to live on!

But this is a lie! Obvious as it might seem;
Many fail to notice the intricacy of this deception.
It is difficult to fathom that the glory and relief which vengeance grants you;
Is naught but an ephemeral wind, existing only for a moment...

Shame and guilt will then crush your spirit
And the emptiness of the void begins to ring hollow within your soul.
The hole which you sought to fill with the taste of revenge;
Has instead grown into a wider pit, one that can never be filled...

Even so, we still cling to our suffering...
Because even if we have this wisdom, we are defined by our suffering;
Just as it is defined by us...

It is difficult to see what is right and wrong in the fog of anger
But I believe that this confusion within us, is at least a part of the answer.
We may not know where, why or even how to rid ourselves of these feelings;
But the proof that we are thinking about it, is the first sign that its chains are slowly loosening...

And perhaps someday, we will truly be free...

AUTHOR'S COMMENT:

Today, Inspiration week officially begins. I have decided to focus more on doing pieces that are actually inspirational. SOME will be inspired by songs, but not all.

This piece for example, I wrote to warm up for the week and test a pure free verse style.

Often, I am prone to experimentation with other styles of poetry, because I feel my own style to be...lacking.

However, I have decided that rhyme is who I am and I will not be able to achieve consistency without it. This piece has taught me much about the difficulty of constructing pure free verse poems, but I have learned more about myself in completing it. I am suited for a particular style and I should focus on sharpening it, it is good to have other styles, but you can never forget your MAIN style.
