Overcome your Writer's Block:

If you want to deal with writer's block
the plan is simple, tickty-tock
Give in to madness, go insane
search for words in the midst of rain

When you hit the wall on its painted face
with your fingers and knees you'll find a trace
The secret passage that will lead you through
or perhaps you might be eaten by a grue...

Oh well...

Back to the rhymes that I use to explain
If you try to go forward it will be in vain
So try a new direction, upward or down
Left or right maybe Charlie Brown?

There are no limits except in your mind
Now do a google search and what do you find?
A pond of ideas now stagnant and brown
I threw in Jay Sean and he went down down down

But I digress and let me wind back
If you focus on the dot then the screen will turn black
and a screamer pops out, you've had a really good fright
are my metaphors putting up a really good fight?

Let me put it simply, in english plain:
A good writer isn't one who forces his brain
Order and structure, they are merely a channel
It's like playing a game with a bingo panel

If you can't connect the dots in a line
Try another formation or swallow a lime
Who knows what will happen, why bother or care?
Just give in to madness, but do you dare?

Heeheeheeeee...
Hello Doctor Cecil, is it time for my medicine yet?

Author's Comment:
Someone asked me 'How do you deal with writer's block'.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeell, I simply...go insane xD

And I'm being completely serious about that because many people have asked me how I overcome writer's block or come up with so many different angles for things. Basically, the way I do it is by trying a new direction or just plain splashing the page with whatever I like.

After you've gotten everything down, take a moment to refine the flow and work some emotion into it. It's like working with modelling clay, some people like to work slowly, others just WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!

I'm the WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH! kind of guy really :3

As for ideas? I think that...as long as it's not the saaaame boring emotional stuff that EVERY poet has done before...you'll be alright (and I'm not insulting those that do the regular cliches, read my early works, there are a lot of cliches, it's a natural part of the evolution process).

Hope it helps with those who are blocked x3

this is a wonderfully witty, smart, and savagely truthful way to get to the 'block'. In my opinion there is no such animal. You have to open yourself up to the world. As you have said in so many different ways here. Once you open to the different paths and possibilities, the sky is the limit and I do mean there are no limits. It is often difficult for people to hear that they are blocking themselves. "I can't" is really "I don't want to or I'm afraid". So, yes, go crazy, find the road not taken, give yourself a new point of view. There is no block but you. Wonderful work. I love playing with words.

I thoroughly enjoyed this poem. I sometimes have difficulty with writers block. But I work it out in the way that you describe, by letting go. I love how you tell your readers to give in to the madness and go insane. The image of finding a hidden door behind the paint of a wall is very strong as well, that inspiration that is needed for a writer to write does not have to be far away, it can be in the most obvious place imaginable. Seeing the extraordinary in the mundane is what separates artists of all kinds from others, and you did just that. That is what it takes sometimes, to draw out the picture for your readers in writing. This reminds me a little of Alice in Wonderland. I could see the Cheshire Cat saying this very easily. Thank you for sharing, your work is wonderful.

This is brilliantly put, and it's simply witty and honest!

And what's even better is that it is all true~! An honest to good writer like yourself knows that you cannot force writing! Well done! It even made me want to write again!
