Ladies and gentlewolves, I come before you today,
To speak on an issue that is close to our hearts.
For many centuries, we Wolves have struggled;
Continuing to seek a final solution to 'the Human Problem'.

Many of you might have heard of the horror stories,
Of these furless creatures lurking in the outer reaches.
Some cities have found them living in underground caverns;
Preying upon the young pups that stray too close to their nests.

It is sad, to say the least, but that sorrow ends today;
For it is my privilege and honour as Chairman of Lycanthropes United,
To unveil our newest means of combating this parasiti

When I was young I was taught that pain begets pain,
Anger and animosity, malice and cruelty;
So deeply inflicted, so lovingly gifted.
I tasted of its rotten core and dared to call it sweet.

But what do I have to show for it?
White hot scars that burn in my dreams.
Reminders of a fragmented bi-polar self;
Self inflicted propaganda, to reinforce the "truth".

Truth so lovingly fabricated by a weakness within,
So desperately crying out for vindication;
Openly denying all that might shed light upon me,
Seeking only the company of shades in shadows...

Within four walls I sleep in exile;
Quietly pretending

The Pirate SolsticeThe Pirate Solstice:

There is tale around the Galbin Coast,
Of a black ship that appeared on the Winter Solstice.
It arrived at a town near Bismarch,
Struck heavily by famine and crop plagues.

The ship drifted silently upon the ocean currents,
Not a creak nor groan could be heard from its frame.
It docked at the port like an ominous reaper's vessel;
A metallic boarding ramp - much like a daemon's tongue -
Slithered slowly from its deck to meet with wooden jetty.

The crew descended, wearing black cloaks and black hats,
Fedoras, I believe they were called.
These figures made little noise as they moved,
walking slowly, silently and

Through the cold ice we trekked, the Reaper and I.
His face an ever-shifting grin, oscillating between joy and malice...

With quick, light-footed steps, he lead me to a warm green meadow.
A small hut in the distance, a little garden beside.
Where a hunchbacked man, covered in boils and open wounds;
Bearing a crooked jaw and gnarled hands, tilled the earth.

"Egh yew ooh wha gu wan!"

I was so startled by the hunchback's sudden outburst,
That I jumped and gripped the Reaper's cloak in fright,
Yet as soon as he had seen me, the hunchback's eyes glazed over;
He appeared to forget about our presence...

Six Words for a SlumpSix Words For A Slump:

You're tired, unable to create anything.

You feel angry; the anatomy's wrong!

Why won't these words come together?

"Nothing's right anymore, my hands tremble..."

Yet the solution is fairly simple...

I'm showing it to you now;

Break up your ideas, smaller sized.

They come together, like in Tetris.

Rotate the blocks; shape your art.

Draw chibis and stick figures too.

Instead of epics, try a haiku.

How about a six word story?

If your mind is blocked, overheated.

Let it cool; take it slow.

By attempting all the smaller things,

Your art is sure to grow.

Down into well, poor Timmy fell,
Down he fell into the pits of hell.
Brought into hell by an eldritch spell,
Poor little Timmy who fell down the well.

Alone he cowered and shivered and shook,
He shook for hours, so long it took,
So long it took for him to feel well,
Well enough to explore this hell...

Through pathways littered with scenes most gory;
Most gory indeed was little Timmy's story,
A story of fear and suffering defined,
Poor little Timmy, he ran out of time...

Yes sir, he is clinging to insanity.
He remembers all the things he said, profanity.
Bare the shame on his naked old humanity.
He is the doll claiming love for his vanity-

When he woke up, desire!
He made a move like fire.
His whispers; a liar,
His heart snaps, like wire!

But what are you thinking of this man as I make him out?
Is it an image or a type that you seem to tout.
was it all his fault with no one else to blame,
Or were there cracks in the story that they both will claim-

Spit that and live that,
Hate when you love that!
You rip that and tear that,
Scream like you know that!

It Came From The DarkIt Came From The Dark:

Amongst the ashes, swirling from the darkness of the pit,

Emerged a hand, dragging a battered body across the rocks.

Blood leaked from the wounds so callously self-inflicted,

And teeth ground with a focused determination and seething anger.

It cared not for the warm rubies - staining the jagged rocks,

It cared not for the sensation of pain...

All that it remembered was a dream, An obsession -

One that drove it ever higher; ignoring all else!

Eventually it emerged from this shadowy hole, this dreary depth,

And in that moment, it learned of the truth.

For this creature, denied sunlight and warmth -

was me...

Memories of WarMemories of War:

What is this long-lost memory inside?
Where oceans turn; what have we left behind
With star-burned wings out above the sky.
The sleeping sons are lovingly left to lie...

A thousand tears you've cried for all,
Now its time for you to fall!
Will you open up the door,
To the future we ignore?

Are you simply lying broken,
From the memory awoken;
Are you simply living lies,
Bitter taste with ropes you tie...

And the world will soon forget.

Fill my heart with this regret?

For the victims written in stone.

Yeah I've seen this world where we livin' in pain,
Wrap my body round with chain

He smiles as he sees her sleeping
& gently covers her with a blanket.
He goes to the window and looks out
watching snow fall, ever so slowly...

He sees people in the streets,
Chatting, walking. Some happy,
Others sad. Hearts beating,
Hearts broken; some warm, some cold.

He looks back at her, as she stirs in bed.
A yawn from her, brings another smile to him:
"How cute," he chuckles as he strokes her head.
He runs his fingers through her hair and is content.

Yet, even if he is happy here, again -
He is drawn to that window and finds himself
Staring out at the street and watching;
Marveling at the disparity and wonderin

Battle ScarsBattle Scars:

Sharp claws rake into my skin
as my blood bursts forth to splatter against the ground
The uneven breathing of my foe
tells me that he too is wounded and close to death

I can see his teeth, flecked with frothing saliva
foaming and spitting as he bellows his name
He charges into me, his frame crashing with mine
the impact has me reeling and I fall back against the stone

The ground feels cold
the icy chill seeping into my bones
the warmth of my blood escapes me
and I can feel myself beginning to fade

Up toward the sky I glance
praying that I might receive assistance
I pray that he who commands me, he who stands above
Will pity

Painted SkinPainted Skin:

He smiles at you, as you enter the office;
Wearing eyeliner made of contempt and disdain.
His cheap cologne invades your nostrils immediately
And you quickly suppress a cough.

"Yes, yes, indeed we have to review this...er, many things are involved."

His face is powdered with a layer of self-importance;
Lips reddened by the polite harshness he spews.
His forked tongue flickers as he prattles on
And you're really getting quite tired.

"Oh I'm sorry! Of course, of course I understand; but my way is much better!"

You're getting really bored now, so you take a look around the room.
The expectation is to see it bedecked wit

Oh here I am standing,
A lost soul is landing.

The coldest December,
Can you still remember?

Do you even hear me?
There's no one around me!

Oh shadow that I see,
The void right behind me.

Yet still I am breathing;

For she who watches the tides of the sea
For she who guides the weary ship.
There is no greater treasure for her
Than a scroll of an ancient writ...

This artifact that we did find
Was stolen from a dragon's behind
Plucked it out from the creature's rear
whilst it nestled the egg that it held dear

So gold and fine was this glorious egg
That soon my mind began to renege
It was filled with thoughts of gold and riches
So tangible that I nearly pissed me britches

Me accent soon began to change
I thought like a thug who was most deranged
Gamblin' at tables would be might fine
With an egg of such a rich design

As the clouds in the skies parted and fire rained to the earth
The soft keening of the voices trapped within the abyss
resounded throughout the empty plains, as the world prepared itself
to meet a fate no worse than complete and utter oblivion.

My Soul, My Dream, My Team:

We are dreamers, we humans.

We reach out eagerly to that which lies above us
Tempted by its unattainable nature and egotistically;
We simplify the task that lies before us...

We climb without any forethought, without preparation;
Recklessly we charge head on for our goal -
And eventually, we lie broken by our failure.

I myself, Captain as you call me,
Am little better than a foolish dreamer.
One who dreams in a childish manner;
Unaware of his impotence, when left alone.

How many times have I been saved by others?

When I lack time, it is my officers who stand,
They keep the ship running smoothly,
Expending hours of precious effort.

When I fall, it is my co-captain who rallies me,
And reminds me of our responsibility -
One that we owe to our readers and friends.

When I write, it is my team - my uncles,
Who lay the path before me;
They give their time and their heart,
Supporting my work from its birth as but a simple idea.

And when I am down, it is my love that holds me,
She carries me ever higher and inspires my word;
Through her own perseverance and present struggle to live.

I am but a man who wears the title of Captain

I am also unsure if I deserve this honour,
But to realise just how many others are putting their faith in me;
It feels as though I've been splashed by cold water...

To know how many have given their time and effort for this,
There is no way that I can adequately express my thanks.
For no man is an island and only together can we truly achieve.

To struggle is to be human,
But to overcome it together,
As our hearts and minds connect...

Arrr maties,

T'night I wanted t' talk about the team. That is t' say me uncles and me co-captain, me officers and every single reader who supports Word of Chen.

In the time that I've spent writing this e-book, I've come t' realise just how much I depend upon others and though people might call me 'talented', I'm really just one aspect of the great machine.

For example (and this quote is taken right from one of me favourite mangas) on a stage ye see the idol shinin' but what about the stage crew that works th' lights and the theatre. What about those individuals that take th' time t' make sure everything is ready and in tip-top shape. There really is no replacement for havin' an amazin' team and although there may only be a single head or 'face' of that team; one must never forget about the effort of everyone else.

It is for that reason, that I wanted t' express how important everyone is t' me, because without their assistance I'd never have made it this far.

In the end there is only bitterness awaiting us if we march alone, but together, even a mountain can be conquered.

one must also make sure not to try and crush others when receiving help from them, so that there will be more people to help you when you need it in the future.

Inspiring.... very, very inspiring. I've visited the concept of man's power-lust and learning experiences in my novels (as well as essays from school, on a more technical note). It's certainly something that human beings go through almost naturally.... an inclination, so to speak. The question is, how do you put it into poems so well? *kudos*
I've been considering joining your Pirate group for a while, but I haven't read through all the rules yet. Too busy writing.

Which, all in all, is probably good sign.
