Slide the blade across your wrist.
Again.
Again.
Again.
Stop.
"Doesn't it hurt?"
I can't feel anything.
"A little."
Punch your own stomach.
Harder.
Harder.
Does it hurt yet?
Yes.
Keep going.
"Why do you do that?"
The pain makes me feel alive.
"I don't know."
Stare.
Cry.
Scream.
Stop.
Keep staring.
"What's wrong with you?"
I'm dead inside.
"Nothing."
"Emotional freak."
I'm just depressed.
"Sorry."
Stare at your arms.
Your stomach.
Your waist.
Your thighs.
"What are you doing?"
I'm ugly.
"Never mind."
"Attention seeker."
I just have low self esteem.
"I'm sorry."
Cuts.
Scars.
Tears.
Emotions.

The Little Girl Blinked
The little girl blinked and he was gone
Unsure if he was ever really there
But she knew that something had inspired her
To do things she wouldn’t normally dare
A teardrop too many he once told her
Had brought him from the shadows of her mind
As those around her began to wander
Across her imagination's fine line
But now he seemed to have walked away
As she found the life she had long sought
He slowly drifted back to the shadows
From her notebook and her beautiful thoughts
And the fools around her carried the spades
Burying him with her imagination
With an epitaph etched on a tombstone
‘Here lies my potential for creation’

So all she can do is gaze out her tower window,
[enchanted forests
concealing poisoned apples]
Clutch that corroded and timeworn blade,
[cursed beasts
tearing down castle walls]
Toss her childhood fables to the waltzing of the moon,

I'll be away from DA fer a bit, I'm doin' some secret trainin'. It only gives me time to post haikus...but...well in this sort of setting ye tend t' think 'em up naturally. Even me pirate accent be flowin' naturally. Th' smell o' th' sea really brings out somethin' different in ya.

Overall Vision Originality Technique ImpactThis piece of work displays a single, well focused idea and manages to convey it without being overt. Did not deviate from the core theme.
Very fresh and new in its approach to the idea and wonderfully singular in its style and execution.
This work shows a proper, valid technique and while using a haiku the author has managed to stay true to his own unique style. However, the punctuation is not entirely grammatically correct. This can be overlooked based on the authors many previous works and the use of this particular technique.
Very thought provoking not only because of the subtlety inherent in a haiku but also because of the subject matter. The affect of the jealous masses on a single free individual is striking.
