A Tale of Pirates 1:
It was a cold night one winter's eve as a single cloaked figure walked out from the 'Seedy Folks' tavern.
This man, was none other than Chenbeard himself. The fiercest pirate in the seven seas of literature. Said to be born from a merchant on the Eastern Coast of Bai Long, he chose the pirate's life after murdering his an entire city in cold blood.
Betrayed by his old crew, and left with naught but his Black Fedora and the clothes on his back. He decided to begin his journey anew. But first, he would need help and funds.
Hence the Captain decided to go, monster hunting...
==BATTLE SEQUENCE==
Enemy Name: Kalkarr the Sewer Rat
Health: ???/???
Speed: 10
To Hit: 6
Armor: 0
Null: 0, Death
Resistance: 10
Will: 7
Other Information: ???
Opening Phrase: *Squeak*
Chenbeard says, "Egads, a violent sewer rat! Alright, you fiend, I'll show ya tha power of the cursed Pirate. Listen up, I'm gonna talk ta the air as though it's listenin', because ya got ta learn how the combat system works!"
Chenbeard points toward the statistics displayed, "First of all, you'll notice that not all of the statistics are displayed. That is because you need an Intelligence based character to scan the enemy and find out the other information about it. It's not necessary to do so, but it makes battlin' easier."
Chenbeard indicates the Speed statistic, "The first and most important of these is the Speed statistic. Basically, before a battle can even begin, ya need ta make a dice roll of a d20 (a twenty sided die) and if the number you roll is higher than the monster's speed stat. You'll attack first."
Chenbeard gestures at the To Hit statistic, "This is another important statistic. It works the same as Speed. However, you'll roll a d20 AND add to it the modifier from your base statistic. In my case, I'm a Wisdom based character. So I automatically get a +3 to whatever I roll. Hence if I roll 1, the total comes to four. If I roll 7, the total comes to 10. As long as the number I roll is higher than the To Hit. The attack will be successful"
Chenbeard points to the Armor and Null statistics, "These two modify damage. Every point in armor causes a -1 to PHYSICAL damage and every point in Null causes a -1 to MAGICAL damage. Anything else is Null will dictate what the creature is immune to. In this case, you can't cause it instant death."
Chenbeard points to Resistance and Will, "These two work the same as Speed and To Hit, however they are ONLY used when your attack has a secondary effect such as poison (physical) or fear (mental). If your attack has a physical secondary effect, you need to do a resistance check by rolling a d20 (if the number is higher than the number displayed, the attack goes through). Similarly, if your attack has a mental secondary effect (like fear or hallucinations), then you need to roll a will check to ensure that it goes through (once again use a d20 and try to beat the number displayed)"
Chenbeard grins, "Now I'll give you an example of a battle."
Chenbeard attacks with a vengeful Spirit. Roll for Initiative 5. Rat moves first
Kalkarr the Sewer rat strikes Chenbeard with it's Plague Infested Teeth, dealing 2 damage.
Chenbeard says, "Ugh that hurt! Now it's MY turn!"
Chenbeard rolls for accuracy 9. Chenbeard throws a Vengeful Spirit toward Kalkarr the Sewer Rat. It hits him for 14 Spirit damage. Chenbeard does a Will check 1. Kalkarr the Rat manages to resist the Fear Effect.
Chenbeard says, "Hah! How'd ya like that ye blasted Rat. Now then, I wonder if any one would like ta join me on this fine adventure"

Mr. Edolas drags you through town, despite your irritation. People were staring at you, but that wasn't what was seriously pissing you off; it was since Mr. Edolas was so tiny, you had to crouch down, and since he was dragging you, you had to run. So, you were crouched down and running, on top of that awkward thing, a little man was dragging you.
This was really the definition of your life. Just saying.
The town is bathed in the sunlight, the bricks now a light golden red. People mill around the small stores, laughing. The shop owners shout loudly, trying to sell stuff that they were sellin

"We're a little behind schedule Captain (Name)," Adiran says, glancing up from the yellow papered map.
"All thanks to Antonio," You grumble under your breath, crossing your hands over your chest.
Adiran laughs meekly, before going back to the map. "Ok, it seems like we won't be able to make it to the island where the merchant is for three more days; even if we keep sailing all day and night, it'll be longer than we planned.
You nod slowly. "We also need some more supplies; we're low on food, medicine, and our weapons are rusting a little." Adiran snatches the map from the table and rolls it up, with a slight sigh. "And what is
